I think the news media would have less of a election night circus if we did not have the electoral college system. I hate how they can declare an election, even though the electoral votes for Iowa, my state, have not been decided. It's like saying those votes don't matter. I want a system of where everyone who votes gets an equal and counted vote.

It wouldn't change much. Here in Denmark we have direct elections, and there's the same problem with different votecounting speeds throught the country. The only thing that could change that is a change of rules, so as to not divulge election results before all votes have been counted... which would lead to more conjecture in the mean time.
Are you guys as pissed as I am?
